Mathcraft

Enter the world of Mathcraft, where you don't just do math, you explore it! Following Common Core standards, students create, build, and adventure inside educational landscapes. For once math can be fun! Students build skyscraping towers and complex redstone contraptions to cover the same topics in their standard math class! This class is perfect for students who love math or students who are struggling to keep up. No matter what your student's level, we differentiate the group to make sure everyone excels light years beyond their current ability. Students build parcore math structures that they can play each other on. They even craft the almighty "Crafting Calculator" and create "The Parthenon" before deriving the equations to these epic structures!!

Created by curriculum specialist and teacher, Jim Pike, Mathcraft is Code Rev’s ground breaking, data backed class that bridges the gap between math and fun. Code Rev is currently on several contracts and grants to provide professional development in Mathcraft to teachers at schools across Southern California in order to bring Mathcraft into the regular school day classroom. In this class, students build and solve common core math problems in the world of Minecraft. The class feels like play to students, but they learn common core math in a fun, explorative, comprehensive environment. When implemented in a 3rd grade classroom, students shattered benchmark scores on standardized tests in a Los Angeles based school. Since then, Code Rev teamed up with Jim and other curriculum specialists to build out grades K-8. This curriculum has been aligned to Common Core and honed by specialists out of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, M.I.T. Media Lab, and adjunct faculty at USC and LMU. It is currently being taught in 7 different after school programs.
